Juvenile-in-Justice is a project by photographer Richard Ross to document the placement and treatment of American juveniles housed by law in facilities that treat, confine, punish, assist, and, occasionally, harm them. To date, the project includes photographs and interviews with more than 1,000 juveniles at over 200 facilities in 31 states in the U.S., from detention, correction, and treatment facilities to group homes, police departments, and courtrooms. Computers are ubiquitous in so many aspects of life. Everyone with a cell phone generates digital images, and students are increasingly interested in media art. Responding to this, From the Digital Toolbox features four artists-Nancy Burson, Tim Portlock, Shuli Sade, Siebren Versteeg-all trained as painters, who have turned to multiple digital technologies to produce a variety of work.
