Poetry Out Loud
National Recitation Contest for high school studentsCreated by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, Poetry Out Loud is administered in partnership with State Arts Agencies. Participating teachers are provided with free curriculum materials – a poetry anthology, audio guide, teachers’ guide, posters, and a comprehensive website, all aligned to national standards. Classroom winners advance to a school-wide competition, then to regional competition, then to the state competition on March 15, 2013, and ultimately to the National Finals in Washington, DC, April 29-30, 2013.

The deadline for school registrations is November 16, 2012.
Region 1 Competition: Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at 10 a.m.
Participating teachers are provided with free multimedia curriculum materials – a poetry anthology, audio guide, teachers’ guide, posters, and a comprehensive website, all aligned to national standards, to augment their regular poetry curriculum.

Register online. The deadline for school registrations is Nov. 16, 2012.
FEE AND SCHEDULING INFORMATION
Work at the school must take place sometime between September 2012 and January 2013; the unit takes approximately two weeks to complete.
A minimum of two classes per school, but no maximum amount.
Program and materials free of charge, but schools are responsible for transportation to the regional competition here at the Gordon Theater to be held on February 7, 2013 from 10am to 12 noon.
